The Congregational Development (CD) Grant program in the Diocese is currently undergoing a strategic evaluation and change process. As a result, there will not be an advance grant application process this spring to assign grants for the 2024 budget year. Instead, we will have limited money to give out in what has previously been called “pop-up” grants in 2024. These grants, for projects in the 8K and under granting range, will be available for application in early 2024. Applications will be reviewed quarterly and funded in full immediately after approval by Diocesan Council. Specific information about this process will become available later this year. The majority of our CD grant funds are being set aside for what we are calling large strategic interventions. We will have more information about what these look like and how these funds will be distributed, also coming later this year.

What does this mean for your congregation:

  1. If you plan to apply for a 2024 grant for more than 8K: it won’t be funded this year. Please stay tuned for information to see if your congregation might qualify for the redeveloped strategic grants. We will provide more info about this soon!
  2. If you plan to apply for a 2024 grant for less than 8K: hold tight! Your grant may be a good candidate for a pop-up.
  3. If you applied for a multi-year grant last year that still needs to be completed: Your grant contact should have recently received an email from Canon Alissa. If you did not, please email her immediately to find out your next steps: anewton@ecww.org

If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact The Rev. Canon Alissa Newton, Canon for Congregational Development and Leadership Formation.
