Episcopal Bishop's Committee on Israel/Palestine
About Us
Our mission...
As Christians called to fulfill the promise made in out Baptismal Covenant "to strive for justice and peace," we commit ourselves to join our Jewish, Muslim and Christian sisters and brothers to gain a better understanding of the struggles and hopes for a just peace in Israel/Palestine. We will continue to support the witness and survival of the Anglican and other Christian communities in the Holy Land.
In the coming year, our focus will be education within the Episcopal Church and public advocacy for the independence of the Palestinian people and the adoption of a viable democratic state, with Jerusalem shared as the capital.

The Episcopal Bishop's Committee for Israel/Palestine (EBCIP) was formally established in 2000 to support the presence and witness of 31 Episcopal parishes and 34 hospitals, schools and other human service missions through a companion relationship with the Diocese of Jerusalem. By means of education, advocacy and prayer, we are committed to supporting our Christian brothers and sisters in their struggle to survive the social, cultural and economic effects of nearly 50 years of military occupation in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, and to assisting them in their efforts to bring about a just and peaceful resolution of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
A centerpiece of our work has been the formation of sister church relationships. Over the years, these relationships have led to mutual exchanges, visits of clergy and youth, pen pals and financial support, especially through the Good Friday Offering. In 2009, EBCIP sponsored a visitation of 14 diocesan women to parishes, educational and health institutions in Israel, Palestine and Jordan. Other efforts include the continuing development of educational programs for the congregations of the Diocese of Olympia, an information and advocacy network, and collaboration with the peace and justice organizations of ecumenical and interfaith communities.

The Episcopal Bishop's Committee for Israel/Palestine is your way to keep current and learn how you can help. We depend on our partners in the Diocese of Jerusalem for accurate, up-to-date information about the human cost of Israel’s continuing policy of settlement expansion and construction of separation barriers. We are connected with a national network that includes ECUSA’s Peace and Justice Ministry, American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, Churches for Middle East Peace and Sabeel.
Can we make a difference? There are no easy answers, but our Baptism calls us to strive unceasingly for justice and peace. The resurrection is our hope.
If you would like more information or wish to establish a companion relationship, please contact us.
