The Resurgent Church: Continuing Education for Presbyters

The Resurgent Church: Continuing Education for Presbyters

Discovering together a fresh future for our Episcopal tradition

Resurgent Church prepares and empowers seasoned clergy to rethink what "everybody knows" about leading Episcopal congregations today. Seminary formation has responsibly prepared priests to take the helm of a modern church. However that church is rapidly encountering post-modern winds and waters, and its progress has stalled.

The Resurgent Church Reader shows new ways to read old charts. It re-presents exegetical, historical, and social science resources in a concise, user-friendly style that relates experiences in congregations to the larger dynamism of evolving tradition.  Based on the overview in The Reader's introduction, each participant picks a project to develop in his or her congregation. Resurgent Church colleagues offer encouraging and challenging feedback to help guide the project's implementation throughout the year.

Participating clergy say:
"Frankly I never expected to recapture the kind of relationships and energy I experienced in seminary. Resurgent Church has shown me that my best days in ministry may still be ahead of me."

"I need structure or I'm sunk. This program provided a beginning, a middle and an end, and supplied the accountability I needed along the way."
