“2040” – At Home Community Screening
November 13 - November 22
Join people from around the Diocese of Olympia for a special, free, in-home screening of the film 2040, Australian director Damon Gameau’s “exercise in fact-based dreaming.”
The lively and often humorous film was released last year but is still not widely available in the US. It uses computer-generated imagery to explore what the future would look like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet.
The diocese has reserved the screening of this family-friendly film for 100 homes. Register now to save your spot. We will send you a link via email to watch the film when it’s convenient for you – any time between Friday, November 13, starting at 7:30pm, through Sunday, November 22.
Another option for youth: Teens from around the diocese are invited to view the film together on-line on Sunday, November 15 at 3:00pm with Diocesan Youth Ministry Coordinator, Alex Flannagan. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your place and to get the Zoom codes.
Finally, as a follow-up, plan to join us Sunday, November 22 from 1:00-3:00pm for a discussion of the film and possible next steps. This will be a time to meet others from around the diocese who care about creation and are ready to “be the change” in their homes, churches, communities and world.
2040 is a story of hope, and a powerful tool to encourage action. You can watch the trailer here.
This community screening is sponsored in part by: the Bishop’s Committee for the Environment; Drawdown Seattle; the Earth & Spirit Ministry of Grace Episcopal Church, Bainbridge Island; and the Creation Care Ministry of Saint Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral, Seattle. If the creation care ministry at your church would like to join our co-sponsor list by promoting this event, please reach out to: email@example.com, and we’ll add your ministry and church name.
