Companionship Workshop

October 26, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

The Mental Health Chaplaincy is a ministry of presence to our neighbors in Seattle, especially those living in the vulnerability of isolation, homelessness, mental illness, chemical dependency, and trauma.

Companionship is rooted in our natural capacities to act on our concern for other person; it is a relational response to isolation and suffering, supportive of healing and recovery. Companionship aims to share the journey side-by-side with those experiencing distress, bearing witness to the full dignity and story of the person experiencing these things.

Participants will learn ways to embody the 5 Practices of Companionship, how to honor your own limits throughout such work, and to understand why Companionship has the power to shift a person’s perspective and life.
