The event theme is “Nonviolent Resistance: From Martin Luther King to ‘No Kings’ and Beyond.” Cookies and beverages will be available at 12:30 preceding the event and again following the presentation. \nThe Martin Luther King Whidbey community gatherings have sought to connect 1960s Civil Rights Movement with current racial justice issues. This year’s event will connect the nonviolent resistance of the 1960s with the 2025 Whidbey Island nonviolent pro-democracy street rallies. \nFeatured speaker will be the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia’s Canon for Multicultural Ministry and Community Transformation\, The Rev. DESCRIPTION:Sung at the close of day in Cathedrals and churches throughout the world\, Choral Evensong is a service of Evening Prayer\, derived from the ancient offices of Vespers and Compline. The choir sings the traditional evening prayers of the church that have been offered for centuries\, while the congregation listens\, joins in the hymns\, and adds their own prayers to those of the choir. It is an opportunity for peaceful meditation in the midst of a busy week. \nEvery Sunday at 5:30 pm. \nFollowed by a reception.
