SUMMARY:Choral Evensong
DESCRIPTION:Sung at the close of day in Cathedrals and churches throughout the world\, Choral Evensong is a service of Evening Prayer\, derived from the ancient offices of Vespers and Compline. The choir sings the traditional evening prayers of the church that have been offered for centuries\, while the congregation listens\, joins in the hymns\, and adds their own prayers to those of the choir. It is an opportunity for peaceful meditation in the midst of a busy week. \nEvery Sunday at 5:30 pm. \nFollowed by a reception.

SUMMARY:Come As You Are Eucharist
DESCRIPTION:Sundays\, 4:30 pm \nThe Come As You Are service is casual and welcoming. While it follows the structure of Anglican liturgy\, it’s designed for those who may have a hard time sitting still\, whether you’re a toddler or an octogenarian. This service creates opportunities for all to participate in worship\, either by moving between prayer stations\, hearing the Gospel told in story form\, engaging in an interactive sermon\, or gathering around the altar. It’s for people who have never been to church before\, and for anyone seeking a place to belong.

SUMMARY:Decolonizing Evangelism: Reclaiming Evangelism for the Gospel of Jesus Christ
DESCRIPTION:April 19\, 11:45 am \nEvangelism has been used as a tool of power and colonization for much of history. In this class\, St. Andrew’s will seek to reclaim the kind of Evangelism that Jesus calls us to live out in the Gospels. They will explore what our own experiences of Evangelism have been\, what our baptismal covenant and the Bible say about Evangelism\, and explore what this may look like in our own lives and ministries. Questions? Contact Megan McInnis\, St. Andrew’s Director of Formation\, meganm@saintandrewsseattle.org

SUMMARY:Chariot Jubilee
DESCRIPTION:June 6\, 8:00 pm \nThe Seattle Choral Company – an Artist-In-residence at Saint Mark’s Cathedral – presents an inspiring evening of music that celebrates faith\, heritage\, and the power of the human spirit. This unique concert brings together four deeply moving works by composers from different backgrounds\, each offering a fresh and personal take on sacred music. \nNathaniel Dett’s The Chariot Jubilee combines classical music with the rich tradition of African American spirituals\, creating a powerful tribute to freedom and hope. Steve Dobrogosz’s Mass brings the Latin Mass to life with striking jazz harmonies\, making something traditional feel new and heartfelt. In Three Dunbar Hymns\, Adolphus Hailstork sets the poetry of Paul Laurence Dunbar to music that is both soulful and dignified\, honoring the voice of one of America’s great Black poets. Reena Esmail’s The Love of Thousands blends Western choral music with the sounds of Indian classical music in a glowing tribute to ancestry\, memory\, and the quiet strength passed down through generations of women. \nTogether\, these pieces create a vibrant\, heartfelt journey through sacred music as seen—and heard—through today’s diverse and deeply human voices.

SUMMARY:A Century of Faith\, A Future of Hope: Celebrating St. Luke's Seattle
DESCRIPTION:May 24\, 3:00 pm \nFor over 100 years\, St. Luke’s Seattle has been rooted in the heart of Ballard — a place of baptism and burial\, worship and service. Through seasons of growth and hardship\, God’s faithfulness has never wavered\, and neither has the generosity of the people who have called this place their church. \nThat legacy is visible today in the Edible Hope Kitchen\, feeding our vulnerable neighbors for nearly 40 years\, and in St. Luke’s Apartments\, whose Grand Opening of 84 units this April marked the first affordable family housing built in Ballard in over three decades. \nNow we look ahead. Plans are underway for additional housing and a new worship and service space on the same ground where we have stood for more than a century — a new building with a dedicated chapel\, multi-use sanctuary\, and classrooms for affordable childcare and congregation programs. \nBefore construction begins\, we invite you to join us on Sunday\, May 24th at 3:00 PM as Bishop LaBelle deconsecrates the Chapel on the Feast of Pentecost. We will celebrate the saints who have gone before us\, give thanks for God’s presence through the years\, and lift our prayers for the generations to come. A reception with archival photos and shared stories will follow in Bennett Hall (fully accessible). \nThis will be a time of grief and joy\, sadness and hope— and your presence will make it more complete. \nThe Chapel service requires climbing stairs; please contact us with accessibility questions. RSVP or reach us at info@stlukesseattle.org. Learn more at the St. Luke’s website. \nEveryone is welcome.

DESCRIPTION:April 26-May 1\nRegister by Saturday\, April 18. \nEver wondered what makes an icon more than just a painting? Icons speak a unique visual language\, steeped in theology\, spirituality\, and beauty. Come learn that language firsthand in this introductory icon workshop\, where you will paint your own icon under the guidance of a seasoned iconographer. \nThroughout the week\, you’ll explore how icons draw us into prayer\, connect us with the saints\, and invite us to grow in holiness. You’ll discover how these holy images—rooted in Scripture and the Tradition of the Church—help us recognize God’s presence in our own lives. \nThe workshop will run Sunday\, April 26 (12:00-3:00 p.m.) and Monday\, April 27 – Friday May 1\, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m\, at St Thomas Medina. In-person attendance will be required for the full week to complete the icon. \nThe $550 cost will cover all materials—boards\, paints\, brushes\, gold leaf\, and other supplies—so you don’t need to bring anything but yourself. Scholarships are available.

SUMMARY:The Traveler and the Bishop on the State of America's Democracy and Christian Nationalism
DESCRIPTION:April 26\, 6:00 pm \nFree Event\, Registration Required \nJoin Rick Steves for a European take on Trump and American democracy (basically his “No Kings” rally speech\, updated and with an indoor voice). Then\, Lutheran Bishop Shelley Bryan Wee (ELCA) will share a hard look (inspired by scripture) at the perversion of Christianity called “Christian Nationalism.” Rick’s talk will share how history is speaking to us — and how\, if we listen\, we can better understand and meet the challenges facing democracy in the USA. And\, whether you consider yourself a person of faith or not\, Bishop Shelley’s message will bring a new dimension to your thinking about the place of religion in the political discourse of our country.
