SUMMARY:Silence and Honey Cakes: Lessons from the Desert for Modern Communities
DESCRIPTION:February 21\, 8:30 am \nin person in Bloedel Hall and online via Zoom\, registration required. \nwith the Rev. Sr. Miriam Elizabeth Bledsoe\, OSH \nFrom the beginning\, we were created for belonging and community. And yet\, community also comes with many challenges\, including the temptations of individualism\, conformity\, competition and power. How do we discern and nourish the truth of who we are and who our neighbor is? How do we manage the variations of gifts\, limitations\, calls and vocations within our communities while also nurturing the persons in those communities and in the margins? The desert mothers and fathers of the 3rd and 4th centuries understood that the heart of the Christian path was communion with God and with one another. They also knew the challenges of belonging and community. These ammas and abbas will be our teachers as we explore belonging\, loving\, and navigating the blessings and temptations that can manifest in community. \nSuggested donation: $25. Registration is required for in-person or online participation (register to receive Zoom link).

SUMMARY:Prayer Vigil for Immigrant Solidarity
DESCRIPTION:April 16\, 6:30 pm \nThis April\, the diocese is hosting the annual churchwide AANHPI Leadership Retreat in partnership with Asiamerica Ministries. Over 70 Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Episcopalians will embark on a pilgrimage to sites of AANHPI history and memory in Seattle\, Tacoma\, and Bainbridge Island. The group will weave these stories with present-day solidarity with migrant communities currently under threat. \nAll are welcome to join the retreat’s prayer vigil at Christ Church\, Tacoma. We will hear from community organizers\, listen to testimonies from detainees\, and pray together. We will also have a chance to fold tsuru or Japanese cranes as symbols of hope\, peace\, and compassion. \nYou and your church are invited to fold tsuru ahead of this event too. We will be hanging strands of solidarity at the NW detention center and other sites along our journey. Feel free to write a prayer if you wish and fold with your community at coffee hour\, etc! Cranes can be mailed flat to the Diocesan House or brought to the vigil.

SUMMARY:Diocesan Youth Confirmation Program: 2026
DESCRIPTION:Sundays\, February 8 through April 19\, 7:00 pm  \nWelcome to our youth confirmation program! This is our fifth year offering this program\, and this time we have invited the youth of the Diocese of Spokane to join us as well. Together\, we will explore and learn about the Episcopal faith with the option of participating in a confirmation service at Cathedral Day\, April 25\, 2026. \nAll current high school youth are welcome to participate. (*If your child is in middle school\, and is interested in the program\, please contact Naomi Cavaliere directly.) \nOn Sunday evenings\, starting February 8 through April 19\, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. we will be working our way through a curriculum called “Confirm Not Conform.” This curriculum is designed to encourage and invite youth to ask the hard questions and grapple with their own understanding of what they believe and why. Facilitated small group break-outs will provide time for conversation with peers of the same age. \nOur Sunday evening meetings will be virtual via Zoom. Over the course of this10-week class\, we will have different guest teachers who will lead the lessons and conversations. These teachers are clergy\, lay leaders\, and faith formation staff from across both Dioceses. \nFor more information\, and to register\, please click on this link: https://DioYouthConfirmation2026.eventbrite.com

SUMMARY:Cathedral Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:April 25 \nCathedral Day is a “family reunion” for Episcopalians from across western Washington. It’s a time for connecting across congregations and experiencing all your cathedral has to offer. For centuries\, cathedrals have served as Christian pilgrimage sites\, drawing people of faith into their orbit of wonder and awe. This year’s Cathedral Day celebrates the idea of pilgrimage\, with Saint Mark’s serving as your sacred destination. \nThis journey might feel especially resonant for those who seek to be confirmed\, received\, or reaffirmed by our bishop\, the Rt. Rev. Philip N. LaBelle\, during the Cathedral Day liturgy. As Jesus said to the first ones to follow him as people of The Way: Come and see…so are we invited to join on this journey together. \nPlease RSVP for all attendees in order to secure your free food truck lunch. Your voucher(s) will be available at the event. \nAll congregations attending Cathedral Day are invited to bring their banners to carry in the procession. \nSTREAM THE SERVICE OR VIEW THE RECORDING\nThe service will be streamed at saintmarks.org/livestream. After the service\, an archive recording will be available on the cathedral website.

SUMMARY:2026 Clergy Conference
DESCRIPTION:10am Monday\, April 27\nto Noon Wednesday\, April 29\n\n\nWhat will we be doing? \nThis year’s Clergy Conference invites us all into something many of us are craving: space to breathe\, to reconnect and be re-energized\, and to remember that we do not carry the weight of ministry alone. Our place of retreat will be the beautiful Semiahmoo Resort—where everything is under one roof (praise Jesus) and the shoreline is just steps away. Expect ample unstructured time\, gift bags and prizes\, firepit conversations\, sunset viewing\, kayaks and profound conversations. \nAlongside rest\, we will hold some intentional space for conversation and reflection on how to be clergy during this particularly troubling time in our world. How can we lead with courage\, clarity\, and pastoral wisdom in this moment? \nWe are also delighted to welcome The Rev. Dr. Stephen Shaver\, former priest and friend of this diocese. He will lead a session exploring and supporting the richness of our liturgical life in the Pacific Northwest. \n  \nRegistration is per person and includes: \n2 to 3 nights of lodging (Sunday\, Monday and Tuesday) in queen rooms. If you’d like to come on Sunday evening to settle in or avoid an early Monday morning drive\, we have a limited number of rooms available that will be assigned on a first-come\, first-served basis.\nAll meals from breakfast Monday through brunch on Wednesday (Monday breakfast for those staying overnight only).\n**Please do not call to reserve a room – the Office of the Bishop is making arrangements based on your registration.** \nRegistration fees per person:\nOvernight: $300\nCommuters (no overnight lodging): $250\nRegistration deadline: Monday\, April 20th \nCLICK HERE for the Eventbrite registration page \n  \nSchedule (subject to change): \nMonday\, April 27\n10:00 am: Check-in Opens\n11:00 Session 1: Getting to Know Each Other\n12:30 pm Lunch\n1:30 pm Session 2: How to Be Church Together in Troubling Times\n3:30 pm Free Time and Connecting Opportunities\n5:00 pm Hospitality Hour\n6:00 pm Dinner\n7:00 pm Service of Lament and Healing\n7:45 pm Free Evening \nTuesday\, April 28\n8:00 am Contemplative Prayer with Bishop Phil\n8:30 am Breakfast\n9:15 am Morning Prayer\n9:45 am Session 3: The Rev. SUMMARY:Weekly Online Welcoming & Centering & Prayer
DESCRIPTION:Fridays\, starting September 19\, 12:00 pm \n$20 Suggested Donation to Sacred Waters \nWeekly Online Interspiritual Group Contemplative Practices beginning Friday\, September 19\, via Zoom. Welcoming Prayer meets Fridays from 12:00pm PT to 12:30pm PT. Centering Prayer meets Fridays from 12:30pm PT to approximately 1:00pm PT. Fee: $20/month for either or both sessions. Register to receive the Zoom link. \nThough contemplative practices are often thought of as solitary endeavors\, community is a very important component in supporting our individual intentions. Whether you’re an experienced contemplative or just starting to engage\, you’re welcome to join in! \nWelcoming Prayer is a method of consenting to God’s presence and action in our physical and emotional reactions to events and situations in daily life. The purpose of the Welcoming Prayer is to deepen our relationship with God through consenting in the ordinary activities of our day — “consent-on-the-go.” \nCentering Prayer is a receptive method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer\, prayer in which we experience God’s presence within us\, closer than breathing\, closer than thinking\, closer than consciousness itself. \nFacilitator: Sylvia Sepulveda is a longtime longtime practitioner\, organizer\, and facilitator of contemplative group practices. She offers spiritual direction\, dreamwork\, retreats\, and art-based workshops through Secret Garden Practices (https://secretgardenpractices.com/).

SUMMARY:Anti-Racism Training
DESCRIPTION:May 2\, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm \nThis one-day training experience is based on “Seeing the Face of God in Each Other: The Antiracism Training Manual of the Episcopal Church.” We will begin with the conviction\, grounded in the Baptismal Covenant\, that we are all children of God who still bear the image of God. From there\, we will learn (or refresh our learning) about the history and teachings of the Episcopal Church regarding race and racism. Participants will analyze the dynamics of power and oppression so that they can engage in the visioning of an alternate reality for the church and society. That vision for us is the creation of the Beloved Community. As we are always in a state of becoming\, this training seeks to help us move along the path of dismantling racism.
