SUMMARY:ICE and the Immigration Crisis: A Faith Response Followed by Community Action Training
DESCRIPTION:March 22\, 1:30 pm \nThe community is invited to gather for an afternoon of learning\, reflection\, and practical action in response to the growing impact of immigration enforcement in our region. \nRev. Dr. Rick Rouse\, author of A Journey Called Hope\, will explore the human cost of current immigration policies\, how we arrived at this moment\, and what a faithful response looks like in a time of fear and uncertainty for immigrant families. \nFollowing his presentation\, Leslie Brown\, a leader with the Washington Immigration Solidarity Network (WAISN) and the Snohomish County Rapid Response Team\, will lead a Community Action Training. Participants will learn how to respond to ICE activity in informed\, grounded\, and responsible ways. The training will include guidance on knowing your rights\, documenting enforcement actions\, hotline reporting\, and discerning appropriate bystander response. Opportunities for deeper involvement will also be shared. \nThis gathering is designed for those who are concerned\, curious\, or ready to move toward meaningful action. There is space to listen\, ask questions\, and discern next steps together. \nFree event. Registration requested. Each attendee must register individually.\nRegister HERE: https://bit.ly/4qvyycz

SUMMARY:The Society We Deserve - Where Everyone Belongs and Everyone Can Thrive
DESCRIPTION:March 19\, 7:00 pm \nMany of us feel it — division\, exhaustion\, and distrust are pulling us apart. In this public talk\, Rev. Terry Kyllo explores what is happening beneath our political and cultural conflicts and why so many people feel vulnerable and alone. \nDrawing from social research\, Scripture\, and years of bridge-building work\, he offers a hopeful and practical path forward. Instead of choosing fear or retreat\, we can rebuild trust\, strengthen our communities\, and renew the social contract from the ground up. \nJoin us for an honest\, nonpartisan conversation about how we can build a society where everyone belongs and everyone can thrive.

SUMMARY:Living on the Edge: How Human Nature Is Being Hacked — and How We Can Respect Each Other Again
DESCRIPTION:January 20\, 7:00 pm \nWe all feel it: something is pulling us apart.\nNeighbors who used to talk across the fence now glare across a divide.\nFamilies struggle to talk about the world without arguing.\nWhole communities feel blamed\, forgotten\, or under attack.\nIn this public talk\, Rev. Terry Kyllo offers a hopeful\, practical path forward. Drawing from social research\, Scripture\, interfaith wisdom\, and years of bridge-building work\, Terry explains how our human nature is being hacked—by digital algorithms\, political movements\, and economic forces—and how fear drives us into exclusive ingroups that turn neighbors into strangers. This gets expressed in Christian Nationalism\, extremist groups\, cancel culture\, and moral emptiness.\nBut he also shows how we can reclaim our agency\, restore trust\, and rebuild our communities.\nTerry lifts up the unseen majority—people of many traditions\, backgrounds\, and beliefs—who want to live with respect\, courage\, and shared purpose. He invites us into a new way of seeing each other\, grounded in Civic Compassion\, Civic Humility\, Civic Responsibility\, and Civil Courage.\nThis event is for anyone who feels anxious about the future\, tired of division\, or longing for a more human way to live together.\nCome hear a message of clarity\, honesty\, and hope—and take a step toward healing our common life.
