DESCRIPTION:Sung at the close of day in Cathedrals and churches throughout the world\, Choral Evensong is a service of Evening Prayer\, derived from the ancient offices of Vespers and Compline. The choir sings the traditional evening prayers of the church that have been offered for centuries\, while the congregation listens\, joins in the hymns\, and adds their own prayers to those of the choir. It is an opportunity for peaceful meditation in the midst of a busy week. \nEvery Sunday at 5:30 pm. \nFollowed by a reception.

The content and practice are the same as our week-long summer intensives. Year A focuses on the spiritual life\, self‑awareness\, and internal capacity of congregational leaders and communities\, establishing the theological and relational foundations necessary for effective congregational development and adaptive change. The dates for this pilgrimage are October 6-16. Pilgrims will walk the ancient path through some of the most beautiful natural areas of Northern Portugal and Galicia\, Spain\, passing through the historical villages and cities of the region including Tui\, Pontevedra\, and Padron. The Noack Organ takes its inspiration from the great 17th and 18th century organs from Germany and France. This series also honors the memory of Andrew King\, cantor at First Lutheran for 50 years. \nThe attached poster features the dates of the concerts and names the organists for each concert. Steven L. Thomason \nGreece has often been called the birthplace of democracy and the cradle of Western Civilization. It\, together with Turkey\, is also the earliest home of Christianity outside of the Palestine/Israel. Led by The Very Rev. Steven L. Thomason and local archaeological guides on the ground\, this 12-day pilgrimage traces the footsteps of Paul in Greece and Turkey as he engaged the early Christian communities there. Our journey will take us to the well-preserved ruins of Athens\, Corinth\, Philippi\, and Thessaloniki in Greece.
