Christina Johns came to St. Andrew’s, Tacoma four years ago from North Carolina. In those four years, she has enriched the life of the parish in numerous ways, including in these roles:

Parish Nurse: she has tended all manner of ailments, advised trips to the E.R., and made visits to the infirm; Vestry Member: as the Gather Person, she has made sure that every event requiring refreshments or dinner be a festive, attractive and tasty experience; Flower Buyer and Arranger and Altar Guild; helping host special events for which she provides her fine attention to details; President of the St. Elizabeth Chapter of the Daughters of the King, for which she has wrangled the group into order and spearheaded some meaningful projects as well as traveled to Province Assemblies.

She has devoted her Monday evenings to driving a discerner to a program in Puyallup so she does not have to wait a year for the online discernment. She is a member of the “Glue Crew” that focuses on meeting and welcoming newcomers with genuine hospitality, She is an adept conversationalist and can find common ground with everyone. She visits shut ins and makes Eucharistic Visits with others.

She is the Meal Train director for our parish and is the first person to ask “What do you need? Can we bring you some meals?” She was active with the Homeless Vet dinner program that St. Andrew’s hosted last year, never missing the deliveries of dinners to their camp, usually in the cold and rain. She does all of this and more quietly and with good humor. She is a prayer rock star, starting everyday with prayer and writing in her journal. The parish life at St. Andrew’s, Tacoma, is so much richer thanks to her.
