St. Antony’s is proud to host a special screening of the new documentary film The Philadelphia Eleven. This film, directed by Margo Guernsey and Nikki Bramley, tells the story of the first women ordained as priests in the Episcopal Church. Their ordinations constituted an act of “civil disobedience,” as the filmmakers say, because the Episcopal Church formally barred women from ordained ministry. Their struggle for recognition, and a movement that eventually overturned long-standing church tradition, are at the heart of this film.

Since the sun will set at 6pm, we will share a potluck dinner. Those who can help set up can arrive at 5pm, and we will start dinner at 5:30pm, and start the film at 6pm once everyone has had a chance to get their plates. Once the film concludes, we’ll share a brief time for discussion and sharing.
