Book Presentation and Celebration with Robin and Gordon Okumu
Come hear about the incredible story of Christ Church’s own Gordon Okumu—what it was like growing up as an orphan in the Nairobi slums, studying to become a Jesuit priest, entering national politics, and finally, coming to the United States to seek political asylum. You’ll be inspired and encouraged by his unshakable faith and resilience throughout life’s twists and turns. We’ll touch on some of the cultural, religious, and linguistic details mentioned in the book, so bring all your questions and comments!
“Crossing Waiyaki Way: A True Story of Poverty, Prayer, and Politics” in Kenya is available now – published by Angels of Africa Press, a division of the Angels of Africa nonprofit organization. All net proceeds go to the nonprofit, specifically toward its goal of building a community medical clinic in rural western Kenya. You can get a copy here: https://www.angelsofafrica.org/general-7. Then bring it to be signed by the authors!
