Climate Grief: Strategies for Hope and Resilience

Got Eco-Anxiety aka The Chronic Fear of Environmental Doom?

You are invited to attend “Climate Grief: Strategies for Hope and Resilience” from 2:00-4:00 pm, Sunday, October 22 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church (a GreenFaith church).

Featuring Kim Smith Ph.D.
Sociology Faculty Department Chair, Portland Community College
International Liaison, Greater Portland Sustainability Education Network

In addition to her faculty responsibilities, Dr. Smith was a representative at the United Nations Rio+20 Earth Summit, and she led the U.S delegation to the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development in Japan in 2014.

Now, more than ever, she believes it is important to develop skill sets that empower us to face challenges and build a sense of hope and resiliency. She speaks passionately about how sustainability education is the ultimate mechanism for saving the planet and humanity.

“We need system change, certainly, but we also need individuals to feel like what they do matters. Your voice matters. Your vote matters. Your actions matter.”
