The Seattle Choral Company (SCC), led by their founding artistic director, Freddie Coleman, announces the final concert of their 41st season, titled: “This Shining Night: Music and Poetry for a Summer Evening”
The concert will unite four living American composers on themes of love and innocence. Featured works on the program will include:
“Nocturnes” by Morten Lauridsen, with poetry by Rainer Maria Rilke, Pablo Neruda, and James Agee;
“Curve of Gold” by Donald Skirvin, with poetry by Sara Teasdale;
“Fern Hill” by John Corigliano, based on the poem by Dylan Thomas; and
“Three Songs” by Philip Glass, with lyrics by Leonard Cohen, Raymond Lévesque, and Octavio Paz.
Mezzo soprano Sarah Mattox will be the guest artist, featured in both “Curve of Gold” and “Fern Hill.”
