On this night we will commemorate the Holy Innocents. The Gospel of Matthew says King Herod killed toddler boys in Bethlehem in a vain effort to kill baby Jesus, the Messiah. This service remembers the injustice and cruelty of the world, but the loving and sacrificial providence of God.

Evensong, or Sung Evening Prayer, is a tradition that emerged out of the English Reformation traditionally being held on Sundays and Major Feasts. Our order of service is from the American Book of Common Prayer of 1979. Its principal parts are the Invitatory and Psalter, The Lessons, and The Prayers, reflecting the ancient divisions of the older Offices, now merged into one. Evensong is participatory by nature and you bless others simply by your presence. All are welcome.
