Hello all,
On June 5, Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza City suffered the sixth destructive attack from the Israeli military – in addition to a father and son seeking surgery, three journalists were killed. Thirty others were wounded, including four hospital staff.
On Thursday, in response to urgent need for our help, the Bishop’s Committee for Justice and Peace in the Holy Land made a donation of $2,500 to Ahli Hospital. Funds will be transmitted through the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem (AFEDJ), our US pipeline for transferring funds to the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem. AFEDJ provides the following report:
June 5 Attack at Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza
A beacon of hope and resilience in one of the world’s most troubled places, Al Ahli Arab Hospital, located in Gaza City and operated by the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, stands as a critical lifeline in the midst of the catastrophic, never-ending humanitarian crisis. Ahli Hospital serves everyone regardless of religion, ethnicity, or ability to pay. A conversation with the executive director of AFEDJ following this attack confirmed that the hospital was continuing to function to the greatest degree possible, though often in tents.
We now urge all congregations and individuals who are able to do so to make a contribution AFEDJ: on line at https://afedj.org/give/give-online/ or by mail: Please make your check payable to “AFEDJ” and mail it to: AFEDJ, PO Box 411814, Boston, MA, 02241-1814.
Pray without ceasing,
Mary Pneuman
