When: April 11, 2026 from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Where: St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 4805 NE 45th St., Seattle, WA 98105
Who: Anyone! Absolutely anyone who is discerning anything in life is welcome to attend: lay people, ordained people, people who are currently in diocesan discernment, people who are discerning anything within our without the church…
What: Do you have a big question in life that you are thinking about and wondering what God would have you do? A question like:
- Should I retire?
- Should I go back to school?
- Should I try this ministry?
- Should I start my own business?
- Where should I volunteer my time?
These questions and more are invitations to explore your relationship with God, yourself, and others more deeply and this one-day retreat will give you resources to do just that.
Join other discerners across the Diocese to learn:
- The Foundations of Discernment
- What is discernment?
- How do I know this is the voice of God?
- Bible study
- Tools for Discernment
- Why do we need individual and communal discernment?
- A panel discussion with Bishop LaBelle and others about discernment
- Resources for discernment and where to find them
We will close with a Commissioning for Discernment Prayer Service with anointing. Attendees are invited to read two books in preparation for the retreat: The Dream of God: A Call to Return, by Verna Dozier (Seabury, 1991); and Let Your Life Speak: Listening for the Voice of Vocation, by Parker Palmer (John Wiley & Sons, 2000)
Note: This is an in-person gathering and will not be online or hybrid. There will be another one of these retreats in the autumn in a different location in the Diocese.
