The Rev. Canon Cristi Chapman

Canon to the Ordinary

Cristi was appointed by Bishop LaBelle to serve as the Canon to the Ordinary in December 2024. Cristi works collaboratively with the Bishop, clergy and other diocesan leaders, and the diocesan staff to develop a culture of faithful discipleship that serves to build up the Body of Christ in the diocese. As the Canon to the Ordinary, Cristi serves as the chief advisor to the Bishop; is the lead resource for clergy and congregations in transition; advises clergy, congregations, and Governing Bodies on a variety of matters; and serves as Chief of Staff for the Office of the Bishop.

Cristi’s previous calls include serving as rector of Saint David's, Friday Harbor; Executive Director of the Mission to Seafarers; and Canon for Spiritual Growth and Stewardship, associate to the Rector, and curate at Saint Mark's Cathedral. In the Diocese of Olympia, Cristi has served as the convener of the Budget and Finance Committee, ex-officio member of Diocesan Council, and a member of the Joint Finance Panel. Cristi graduated from the Seminary of the Southwest in May 2017 and was ordained to the priesthood in June 2017. Prior to ordained ministry, Cristi was a CPA. For 15 years, she held several senior finance roles at the University of Washington.

Cristi and her husband, Chris, have been married for 32 years, and are the proud parents of Madeline, their 23 year-old daughter.
