Workshop Logistics

The 114th Convention of the Diocese of Olympia will be held on Friday & Saturday, October 25 & 26, 2024 at the Tacoma Convention Center. Workshops are scheduled throughout the day on Friday and will be interspersed with meals, plenary sessions, worship services, and exhibits.

Workshops are 60 minutes in length and will be held in-person at the Convention Center (with an option for a hybrid presentation) at the following times:

Presenters will have access to assigned rooms approximately 30 minutes prior to workshop start for Sessions 1 & 3; for Sessions 2 & 4 it will be about 15 minutes prior.

2024 Diocesan Convention Theme

Our theme for 2024 was selected by the Diocese of Olympia Bishop-Elect, The Rev. Dr. Philip N. LaBelle. It is:

Come to me, and I will give you rest: Finding Renewal, Healing, and Delight with Jesus, inspired by Matthew 11:28-29:

28 ‘Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’ (NRSVA)

It is our hope that Diocesan Convention can be a time of rest and revitalization, and one of the ways to experience this personal transformation is through workshop offerings, whether you’re presenter or participant.

Call for Workshop Proposals

There are so many wonderful things happening in congregations, regionally, diocese-wide, in our camp and conference center, and in partner organizations. Diocesan Convention workshops provide an opportunity to share and showcase best practices and to learn from one another. Do you have a program, resource, idea, practice, or area of expertise to share? If so, we invite you to submit a workshop proposal (link to digital form, below).

The deadline for proposals is August 31, 2024.

Please review the 2024 workshop information below before submitting your request. Questions can be directed to: faithformation@ecww.org.

2024 Workshop Goals

We endeavor to offer a slate of engaging, interactive workshops that is diverse in terms of presenter identities (clergy/lay, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, geography, etc.), ministry context (congregation, diocese, region, camp/conference center, affiliated organization, etc.), and content. Priority is given to workshop proposals that demonstrate collaboration between two or more people, churches and/or organizations. Workshops may, but are not required to, address the 2024 theme.

As you design your workshop, consider how you will actively engage participants and plan to combine various modes of presentation including:

All materials, videos, workshop or exhibit content, etc. should pertain to the issues and actions of this convention, the Diocese of Olympia, and the Episcopal Church.
