Psalm 120
1When I was in trouble, I called to the Lord; *
I called to the Lord, and he answered me.
2Deliver me, O Lord, from lying lips *
and from the deceitful tongue.
3What shall be done to you, and what more besides, *
O you deceitful tongue?
4The sharpened arrows of a warrior, *
along with hot glowing coals.
5How hateful it is that I must lodge in Meshech *
and dwell among the tents of Kedar!
6Too long have I had to live *
among the enemies of peace.
7I am on the side of peace, *
but when I speak of it, they are for war.
A Prayer for the Human Family
O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your Son: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
