Nursery Caregiver

St. Luke’s Ballard is looking for a part-time Caregiver for kids 7 and younger. The Caregiver will be present to guide and play with children from 9:45-11:45 on Sundays and for special events after church or in the evenings. The Caregiver provides dependable, secure, and nurturing care for children at church, in a safe and clean environment.

Nursery Caregiver Responsibilities
  • Welcoming children and helping parents to sign them in.
  • Responsible for providing age-appropriate care and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Holding, or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, play and prayer.
  • Be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and volunteers.
  • Straighten the room and clean any toys before leaving
  • Make sure that at least two adults are always present with children.
  • Communicate in advance, by email or text message 1) any planned absences with a two-week notice, or 2) any unplanned absences at least two hours prior to the shift.
Nursery Caregiver Requirements
  • The Caregiver must complete Safe Church training online within the first three months of employment and obtain a certificate of completion. If the Caregiver has previously attended the training, s/he must provide documentation demonstrating completion. The Caregiver will conduct her/himself within the policies and guidelines established in the Safe Church training.
  • The Caregiver must undergo a background check as part of the hiring process.
  • The Caregiver should be able to lift 10-15 pounds and to access all the buildings and property.
Wages and benefits
  1. The position is hourly, non-exempt. The pay is $25/hour. A timecard will be completed on the 14th and on the final day of the month.
  2. The Employee will not be entitled to additional benefits beyond wages, subject to any applicable laws.
  3. St. Luke’s Employee Personnel manual and diocesan personnel policies apply.
