We are pleased to announce the call of two clergy to positions within the Diocese. The Rev. Kay Flores has been called as rector of St. Timothy, Chehalis and the Rev. Wren Blessing as Rector at Grace, Bainbridge Island. Please join us in welcoming them to their new positions.
The Rev. Kay Flores
The Rev. Kay Flores has recently moved from the Diocese of Wyoming to become the rector at St. Timothy.
Most recently, Kay worked for the Diocese of Wyoming as the Youth and Young Adult Ministry Coordinator. In that role, Kay worked with the Diocese of South Dakota in their shared camp ministry at Thunderhead Episcopal Center, helped congregations organize a camp experience in Western Wyoming, attended the Episcopal Youth Event in 2017, traveled to England with high school students from Wyoming, and traveled to Tami Nadu in South India with a group of young adults from the Diocese of Leicester in England. She also served as a Ministry Developer for four congregations in central Wyoming, including two on the Wind River Indian Reservation.
Kay is an Education for Ministry (EfM) trainer and mentor and a Godly Play Foundation trainer and teacher. She was a General Convention Deputy from Wyoming in 2009, 2012, and 2015 and has served as the Standing Committee president and secretary, and as the president of the Constitution and Canons Committee. Over the years, Kay have participated in many diocesan, regional, and ecumenical projects.
She was ordained in 2010 in the Diocese of Wyoming and retired from the State of Wyoming after working for many years conducting hearings for the Department of Workforce Services. Kay has served on the administrative law faculty of The National Judicial College since 2005.
She is proud of her three grown sons and their wonderful spouses. Kay has seven grandchildren ranging in age from 15 down to five. In her spare time, she likes to camp, knit, and read.
The Rev. Wren Blessing
The Rev. Wren Blessing comes to Grace, Bainbridge Island from the Diocese of Montana, where she was Canon for Christian Formation and directed Camp Marshall on Flathead Lake. She has served in parish ministry in Chapel Hill and Durham, North Carolina. Wren was employed as a social worker before attending Duke University Divinity School and delights in ministry in Godly Play and Spanish language settings. She and her sons, Isaac (8) and Elijah (6), enjoy cycling, hiking, and camping. They are excited to find new adventures on the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas.
