It is a time of transition within our diocese, and we have a new clergy transition to announce.

The Rev. Jesús Reyes has been called to St. Luke’s ~ San Lucas, Vancouver as Rector, beginning September 1, 2021.

The Rev. Jesús Reyes, former Canon to the Ordinary for Congregational Growth & Development in the Episcopal Diocese of El Camino Real (October 2008 to December 2020), has been chosen as the new Rector of St. Luke’s ~ San Lucas Episcopal Church in Vancouver, WA. He resides with his wife, son, and mother-in-law – Robin, Mark, and JoAnn- in Wilsonville, OR. His church development approach is to “let the context speak; tune the ears of your heart to listen to it with attention; and engage the context with intelligence, intentionality and compassion.”

Before moving to California, Canon Reyes planted La Iglesia de Santa Maria in the Diocese of Virginia (2004) and worked for 10 years as Social Worker for two different Social Service organizations in the Mt Vernon/Alexandria, VA area. He also comes to us with a broad missionary experience having served in the mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico, and Brazil. He has served our Episcopal Church as a member of the Presiding Bishop’s Strategic Cabinet on the Jesus Movement and Evangelism; a member of the Latino/Hispanic Council of Advice; a member of the Disciplinary Board for Bishops; served as Spanish CREDO Team Leader; collaborated with the Way of Love Working Group and is a member of grant readers team supporting the work of The Episcopal Church’s Task Force on Church Planting and Congregational Redevelopment.

Please join us in welcoming the Rev. Jesús Reyes to the diocese, and please keep all congregations experiencing clergy leadership transition in your prayers.
