It is a time of transition within our Diocese, and we have a new clergy transition to announce.

The Rev. Patrick Raymond has accepted a call as the interim priest at Emmanuel, Mercer Island.

Patrick Raymond, a California native with family roots throughout the Pacific Northwest, was ordained deacon and priest in the Diocese of Chicago. His prior parish ministries have been in Chicago and in Madison, Wisconsin (Diocese of Milwaukee). In a number of past ministries as interim rector or priest-in-charge, he has sought to restore calm and purpose in partnership with congregations going through times of trial. He’s found that prayer and a sense of humor can be complementary pastoral medicines.

Patrick is married to and still growing and learning with Brooke Ward Raymond. Their three grown children live in San Francisco, Chicago, and Lisbon, Portugal. During a respite from parish ministry over the past few years, largely spent in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Patrick has become slightly more fluent en español and slightly more skilled as a mosaic artist. He’s grateful for the kind welcome he has been receiving from all in the Diocese of Olympia.

Please join us in welcoming The Rev. Raymond to the Diocese, and keep all congregations experiencing transition in your prayers.

Welcome to the Diocese of Olympia, Patrick Raymond. Your mother Lois Jean and her sister Rachael are cousins of Bill Balyeat, Sr., who was active at St. James, Kent and St. Bede, Port Orchard, Wa. Many family reside in the Seattle area. We loved spending time with your mom and dad. Bill would have been overjoyed to know that you are now in the northwest.
