Please join us in welcoming The Rev. Abby D’Ambruoso, who has been called to serve as priest-in-charge at St. David’s, Friday Harbor. Abby will begin that call on September 1, 2025.

Serving for the past two years in the remote North Cascades as the Village Pastor at Holden Village, Abby spent much time in discernment and listening for the call of the Holy Spirit. To her delight, her path has led to partnership with St. David’s in Friday Harbor as priest-in-charge. Joining her in the transition from mountain valley to island will be her spouse, Will, and their kids, August (15) and Greta (12). While they will be on the lookout for whales rather than wolverines, they will still be dependent on ferries.

Abby grew up in Oregon, studied Spanish and Religion at St. Olaf College in Minnesota, and then attended Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary at the GTU in Berkeley, California. Completing a yearlong residency in CPE, she later became a board-certified chaplain. Ordained in 2008 in the ELCA, Abby’s first call was to Faith Lutheran in Seattle as a pastor for youth and family, then as pastor-redeveloper for Fir-Conway Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon, WA. When her spouse’s career brought them to Maine, Abby worked for six years as chaplain in pediatrics and obstetrics at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland, Maine.

Abby enjoys cooking, singing, a good conversation, studying languages, fiber arts and pottery, and exploring the natural world on foot and on the water.

Keep The Rev. D’Ambruoso in your prayers as she prepares to begin her new call, along with all congregations and clergy in transition.
