Many of you have heard about ChurchNext, the online learning program launched this year, and here is a terrific, totally free, opportunity to experience this kind of learning. Using the same format as all the ChurchNext classes, several agencies, including Church Publishing, Forward Movement and the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina present: “The Big Class: How to be a Crazy Christian with Michael Curry.”
In this format, people can take the sessions and participate in discussions during the week when they are available: January 27 – February 3rd; during that week those registered will have 24 hour access and can log in whenever and wherever it works for them. Each of the four sessions includes a very brief written introduction, a video by Bishop Curry, and an opportunity to engage in online discussion. A plus is that Bishop Curry will respond to questions. The class is based on his book Crazy Christians: A Call to Follow Jesus (248.4 Cur). A discussion guide will be downloadable, as I understand it.
People can register for the course at http://www.churchnext.tv/school/catalog/course/how-to-be-a-crazy-christian-with-michael-curry. When the page opens on your computer, you’ll see his picture and right under that a button “Register free”. After filling out some profile questions (name, email and such) you can click on the “Register now” button at the bottom of the page. You’ll receive registration confirmation and a reminder of the dates when this offering will be available.
Many of you will remember when Bishop Curry visited this diocese a few years ago. Here is a wonderful opportunity to hear more from this dynamic leader and also to explore the format of the classes in the ChurchNext model of online learning.
