Dear Ones,
In this Thanksgiving season, I urge you to take notice once again of how blessed we are. Consider the feasts on our tables in our warm homes, surrounded by family and friends. Reflect on the freedom we enjoy in our daily lives. We live in the richest country in the world and are blessed in more ways than we can count. Simply to say we have much to be thankful for is an understatement.
Here in the Diocese of Olympia we have the blessing of expressing our gratitude and making a difference for Christ through our Episcopal Community Action (ECA) ministries. Together with our network of ECA ministries across Western Washington, we reach out with Christ’s love to meet basic human needs. Through ECA we provide housing for those seeking shelter, and we address issues of homelessness. We visit those who are in prison and we welcome strangers. We promote spiritual and physical health of individuals and their independence, respecting the dignity of all persons. We are attentive to those most vulnerable on the margins of our society, especially children, youth, young adults, and families in need with our ECA ministries. In Matthew 25:40 Jesus says, “Whatever you do for the least of these, you do for me.” With our many ECA ministries we are making a difference for Christ as we are making a difference in the world.
Marti and I are excited to be a part of our ECA ministries through our financial support and our time serving these ministries. We are transformed in these acts of giving, our hearts are changed; we begin to see Jesus in the faces and eyes of those who are served from these gifts. We hope you will join us in supporting Episcopal Community Action through a generous gift for these ministries right here in our own diocese. Your gift will help in so many ways. Give, and be transformed. Give, and be a part of transforming others’ lives.
In Christ,
+Greg
