Christmas Eve Posada Pageant

December 24, 4:00 – 5:30 pm

The posada is a primarily Latin American tradition going back over 400 years that commemorates Mary and Joseph’s search for lodgings in Bethlehem. It traditionally involves representatives of Mary and Joseph traveling around their community, knocking at the doors of different congregants and asking for shelter, only to be turned away until Christmas Eve, when they are given hospitality at last (generally at the local church).

For the Posada, children are encouraged to show up dressed as their favorite animal or creature to participate in the shepherds and their flock’s visit to the holy family.
