Good Friday Veneration of the Cross service with Holy Eucharist
For this is the reason the gospel was proclaimed even to the dead, so that, though they had been judged in the flesh as everyone is judged, they might live in the spirit as God does.
At noon on Holy Saturday, we offer a short but moving liturgy from The Book of Common Prayer in an unfamiliar corner of the cathedral nave.
This 5am liturgy begins with the lighting of the new fire, the procession of the new Paschal Candle, ringing bells alongside the first Alleluia followed by a breakfast.
The most significant liturgy of the church year, we begin the service outside in the dark with the lighting of the new fire and the retelling of the story of God's love and salvation.
On Easter Sunday, we celebrate a simple service of Holy Eucharist at dawn.
