“Cradle Episcopalians” grew up in the Episcopal Church. We didn’t. We’re young adults who grew up Baptist, Catholic, or Pentecostal. We practiced Buddhism or Islam for a time, or we didn’t claim any particular faith, but now we’re here, in the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia.
At each UnCradled event, young adults in their 20s and 30s take the stage and tell stories from our own pre-Episcopal lives, in our own words. Some stories are angry and hurt. Others are tender. Other stories share experiences of the divine not often found in Episcopal Church at large—at least not yet. These are evenings for ecumenical intimacy, for vulnerability in community.
Each UnCradled event follows a theme, kicking off with Ex-vangelical on May 5, 7:00 p.m., at Copious in Ballard (2220 NW Market Street, Seattle, WA 98107). Four featured storytellers will each share a story from their time in the Evangelical Church, followed by a semi-open mic for other Evangelicals-turned-Episcopalians who have rehearsed, four-minute stories of their own. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome: Cradle Episcopalians, recent Episcopalians, and non-Episcopalians alike.
