Holy Waste of Time 1Games, swimming, fellowship… What’s not to like?

Earlier this month, the diocesan Office of Faith Formation: 35 and Under sponsored A Holy Waste of Time, a retreat for young adults within the diocese. Over the sunny weekend of August 12-14, 28 adults (and four children!) headed out to St. Andrew’s House on the Hood Canal for a weekend of worshipping together, enjoying the outdoors, and connecting with other young adults from across the diocese.Holy Waste of Time 6

The weekend began with worship hosted by a team from Church of the Apostles. There were delicious meals and time for community and connection, plus a night filled with games and fun. One highlight of the first evening was being able to watch the Perseid Meteor Shower without the interference of city lights.

The retreat’s activities included hiking, time for reading and relaxation, and compelling conversations. Afternoon yoga was followed by time in the water with kayaks, paddle boards, and sea cycles. And what retreat would be complete without ‘smores? On Saturday night, those in attendance celebrated the Eucharist in the chapel, cementing the bonds between these young adults through worship.

Holy Waste of Time 7The sold-out retreat will be returning to St. Andrew’s House next year from August 18-20, so save the date!
