We are pleased to announce the call of two of our clergy to new positions within the Diocese. The Rev. Kate Wesch has been called to St. John the Baptist, West Seattle and the Rev. Eliacín Rosario-Cruz has been called to St. John, Snohomish. Please join us in welcoming them to their new positions.
The Rev. Kate E. Wesch
The Reverend Kate E. Wesch was born and raised in Oklahoma. She received her Masters of Divinity from The Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas. She has served three Episcopal Churches: St. John the Baptist, West Seattle; Church of the Holy Spirit, Vashon Island; Epiphany Parish, Seattle; and now, returning to St. John the Baptist, West Seattle. She will begin her ministry at St. John the Baptist on October 2, 2017.
Kate was ordained to the priesthood at St. John the Baptist in 2007 and served as Associate Priest briefly alongside then rector, The Rev. Peter DeVeau. She then served one year as Interim Priest-in-Charge at Church of the Holy Spirit, Vashon Island. For the past eight years, Kate has served the community of Epiphany Parish, Seattle as Associate Priest. As a priest, Kate is passionate about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ as it transforms our daily lives, giving us strength and courage to become the people God calls us to be.
Kate and Joel, her husband, have a daughter, Avery, who is 6 and a son, Myles, who is 3. The Wesches have called West Seattle home for more than a decade and look forward to many more years in this wonderful community.
The Rev. Eliacín Rosario-Cruz
Fr. Eliacín graduated from Seattle University’s School of Theology and Ministry in 2014 and was ordained in June 2015. Until the call to serve at St. John’s he was Curate at St. Luke-San Lucas in Vancouver, WA. Previously, he served as Deacon and Youth Minister at St. Andrew, Seattle. He also serves as a trainer for the Diocese’s College for Congregational Development.
Fr. Eliacín was born in Puerto Rico. There, he was Program Director for a faith-based retreat and conference center. He met his wife, Ricci in Port Orchard, WA in 1997. She was born and raised in Bremerton and is passionate about teaching. They share a love of books and good coffee and enjoy meeting people and learning their stories. Fr. Eliacín’s starting date is Monday, September 11th.
