Please join us in welcoming the Rev. Gabe Oakes, who has been called to serve as Curate at Holy Cross, Redmond. Gabe will begin that call on July 1, 2026.
Gabriel Oakes (Gabe) first felt called to the priesthood in high school, and went through the discernment process while in college, as a parishioner at St. Peter’s Seattle. Before seminary, they served in Episcopal Service Corps for a year in St. Louis, Missouri, where they worked at a local community center and food pantry. Gabe has been at Virginia Theological Seminary for the past three years, and is finishing up their thesis on Dorothy Day and sacramental ecclesiology. They are absolutely thrilled to be heading to Holy Cross!
Gabe has been married to their wife, Rachel, for almost two years. They met in St. Louis, while Rachel was studying to become a psychologist and Gabe was in service corps. They are very excited to move together to the Seattle area together with their cat, Twigs! In their free time, Gabe enjoys very slow trail runs, reading, and making attempts at linocut art.
Gabe can be reached at gabrieloakes42@gmail.com.
Keep Gabe in your prayers as they prepare to begin their new call, along with all congregations and clergy in transition.
