Here are two helpful documents to support preparation for the Easter liturgies and the Easter season.
The first document – The Baptismal Covenant – can be distributed to parishioners prior to Holy Week or prior to the Easter Vigil. It focuses on preparing to renew the Baptismal Covenant at the Vigil and then again on Easter Sunday. With brief comments and questions, its purpose is to invite worshippers to engage the renunciations and vows that shape our public life.
The second document – The Three Days and the Easter Season: Another Season of Creation – invites worship leaders – preachers, musicians, artists, intercessors, catechists – to consider the creation themes in the lectionary readings, the liturgical colors, music, and a variety of liturgies from The Book of Occasional Services. One might argue convincingly that the Easter Season, flowing from the Easter Vigil, is a “season of creation.”
