We are back from a whirlwind trip to San Luis Obispo for the Province VIII Campus Ministry Conference. Three UW undergraduate students: Ivy, Elizabeth, and Jeff along Rebecca, our chaplain, traveled to San Luis Obispo, CA to spend the weekend in conference and retreat with college students from around Province VIII.

We were hosted by the Canterbury Club at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. The conference site was hosted by St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church where were worshiped, ate, and students slept on their pews.

The theme for the weekend was Pilgrimage – the sacred art – Journey to the Center of the Heart. The Rev. Dr. Sheryl Kujawa-Holbrook joined us as a keynote speaker. Sheryl has just completed a book entitled Pilgrimage – the sacred art – Journey to the Center of the Heart, which is due out in April 2013. She led us through discussions on pilgrimage and prepared us to walk a local labyrinth.

The weekend included worship (including a beach-side Eucharist), workshops (Anglican Prayer Beads), fun (Ultimate Frisbee), meals (a beach BBQ), community fellowship, and more.

We are excited to announce that the UW Episcopal Campus Ministries through the Diocese of Olympia will be hosting next year’s Province VIII Campus Ministry Conference on April 4-6, 2014. The theme will be Young Adult Discernment. We hope that many college students from around the Province will be able to join us.
