Convention resolutions are statements that reflect the vision and values of the diocese on a host of matters from social and justice issues to ministry and business practices. There are no unimportant resolutions. In the Diocese of Olympia, resolutions are adopted through the legislative process. Any voting member of Convention or member of official Diocesan governing bodies and committees may submit a resolution for consideration by the Convention, and it is recommended that each Convention resolution be submitted with the endorsement of a congregation and/or region/groups of congregations, or the endorsement of a diocesan commission, committee, or program.
All resolutions are submitted for review as follows:
| Resolution Type | Reviewing Committee(s) | Deadline Notes |
|---|---|---|
Resolutions amending the Constitution and Canons. |
| September 8 - No Exceptions Canon 4(d) |
Resolutions which require expenditures from the Diocesan Budget. |
| September 8 - No Exceptions Canon 5(12) |
All other resolutions besides those above. |
| September 8 Late submitted resolutions may be considered only if: a. they are submitted 48 hours before Conventions starts; and b. a special vote of the Convention is held to accept the late resolutions for debate. Canon 4(e)(7) |
The proposed budget will be adopted by the Diocesan Council on August 27 and published shortly thereafter.
