The Rt. Reverend William Morris Barker (1894 – 1901) who had taught school in Philadelphia before his election as bishop of Western Colorado, transferred to Western Washington in 1894. As a major depression struck the country, he focused on the district’s finances and recruitment of teachers for Annie Wright Seminary.
