The Ven. David Bishop
Canon Missioner for Transitions and Archdeacon for Mission and FormationAs Canon Missioner for Transitions, David works to support congregations and clergy during periods of leadership change and organizational transition. He serves as the primary point of contact for clergy in vocational transition, advises the Bishop Canon to the Ordinary on congregational transitions, and coordinates the diocesan aspects of the call process. His work includes guiding congregations through all phases of transition, providing coaching and facilitation, and supporting communities as they clarify identity and mission and prepare for new seasons of leadership, grounded in the mission of the Church.
David’s call to this ministry is shaped by more than twenty-five years of experience as an educator and institutional leader in K–12 and higher education. His professional work has focused on strategic planning, accreditation and self-study processes, institutional effectiveness, and mission-centered discernment during times of change. David holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Puget Sound, a Master of Fine Arts in Design and Technology from the University of Missouri–Kansas City, and is a graduate of the Iona Collaborative Olympia.
As an Archdeacon, David advises the Bishop on diaconal formation and placement, serves as an ex-officio member of the Commission on Ministry, and represents the Bishop as an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees of Annie Wright Schools.
