Come join St Christopher, Olympia for an Advent Quiet Day Retreat that will have sessions on Contemplative Prayer, Rosary, Meditative Art Journaling, walking the Labyrinth, Breakout discussion, chili and snacks provided. Evensong will follow at 5:00 pm.

Maundy Thursday. This service celebrates the Last Supper of Jesus, the night of the Jewish Passover where he imparts to his disciples the practice of Holy Communion and also the night when he is betrayed and abandoned by his disciples. A poignant service, anticipating the final days of Jesus before the Crucifixion, the Tenebrae service intersperses Psalms and chant with the extinguishing of candles. Each candle marks how Jesus is abandoned by his friends and disciples. And in the end, utter darkness falls asking us whether even God will abandon Christ and leave humanity to its own fate. In answer, the service ends with a crack/boom, pointing us towards the upcoming Resurrection.
The Epiphany celebrates the dawning of the Light of Christ upon all the world. Especially we remember the Magi, the gentile wise men who came to recognize and worship the Jewish Messiah. Come celebrate Christ for the world in this joyous yet meditative Evensong celebration of the Epiphany. Evensong, or Sung Evening Prayer, is a tradition that emerged out of the English Reformation traditionally being held on Sundays and Major Feasts. Our order of service is from the American Book
Join us for a Vigil of the Feast of the Holy Name. This service includes remembrance of the Naming of Jesus, done on the eight day after his birth. This also the New Year according to our solar calendar. Prayers, Scripture lessons, and themes will reflect both of these events. "Making the House Ready for the Lord", An Advent Quiet Day. Gather for a slow paced time of reflection, prayer, worship, and delight as we reflect on God's preparation of the world and of us to receive Christ in this glorious, but oft-too-rushed season. Think of this as a local day of retreat. We will be guided by Mother Katheryn Little of the Little Sisters of St. Clare.
Christmas isn't full of cheer and merry-making for everyone. Whether you are in grief, sadness, depression, or feeling dismayed by our hurting world, you will find that Christ is here for you. Come to this service of worship. Together we will seek out hope and light in God through Christ Jesus.
