This is where you can find information and resources about our current and upcoming Youth Ministry happenings in our Diocese!
Our programs and events are geared toward middle school and high school youth (6th-12th grade) and we offer opportunities for leadership, connection, service, and engagement at the diocesan level. We also value the importance of supporting formation opportunities and ministries at the local level by partnering and working alongside the Episcopal parishes in our Diocese.

Holy Hikes
Holy Hikes is open to all ages and youth are especially welcome! We meet every other month, on selected Saturdays 10:00 a.m., at trail-heads up and down the I-5 corridor. For hike details go to: ecww.org/holy-hikes.

Diocesan Youth Sailing Trip Aboard the Adventuress: August 28-31, 2024
All high school youth — rising freshman through recently graduated seniors — are invited on a trip of a lifetime aboard the historic schooner, Adventuress. We will spend 4 days/3 nights onboard this 113-foot ship, sailing through the waters of the Puget Sound. Along the way, we will learn about navigation and marine biology (Adventuress is a floating lab!); we’ll search for whales and other wildlife; we’ll engage in community building activities; cook meals together; create music and prayer; and even take turns sailing the ship!
We will board the Adventuress at the Port of Everett Marina on Wednesday, August 28 at 10:00 am and we will complete the trip on Saturday, August 31 at Shilshole Bay Marina in Seattle at 2:00 pm.
About a month in advance of the trip, we will hold a Family Information Night via Zoom with our Diocese of Olympia adult chaperones and the staff of Sound Experience, who will captain the ship and lead the day-to-day activities.
The cost of this trip is $200/person. Sibling discount: the first child pays in full; each successive sibling will receive a 50% discount. We have scholarships available so please contact Naomi Woodrum for more information : nwoodrum@ecww.org
Diocesan Youth Confirmation Program: 2025
Join our confirmation series which brings teens together from across the diocese to explore the Episcopal faith, culminating with a confirmation service at Cathedral Day.
We will meet virtually on Sunday evenings, starting on February 3 (2025) through April (2025). We will be working our way through a set curriculum and youth will have an opportunity to ask the tough questions and grapple with their own understanding of what they believe and why. *We hope to include a weekend retreat as part of the program and will have dates available upon registration.
All youth, ages 13 to 18 (seniors in high school) are invited and welcome to participate in this program. Each week, we will have a different guest teacher who will lead the lesson and conversations. These teachers will be clergy, lay leaders, and faith formation staff from across the diocese.
Here is a sample list of topics we will cover during the course:
- The History of the Bible
- The Nicene Creed
- The Lord’s Prayer
- The Book of Common Prayer
- The Sacraments
- World Religions
We will also have a core team of adult leaders who will be part of the classes each week to help facilitate breakout sessions and small group conversations. We recognize how important it is to have consistency and familiar faces in order to establish a strong community along this journey.
At the end of the course, youth will have the opportunity to be confirmed on Cathedral Day, in April, at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral in Seattle. Youth can also be confirmed by the bishop at the regular 3-year visitation to their home church.
As part of the program, we encourage youth and their families to choose an adult sponsor–someone from the church, a family friend, or clergy who will help uphold and support these young people in their process and journey towards confirmation (and beyond!). The sponsors will be invited to participate in special class discussions, and should plan to join their confirmand on Cathedral Day.
