January 20, 1:00 – 3:00 pm

The 19th annual Martin Luther King, “Blessed Are the Peacemakers” community event will be held at 1:00 on January 20 at St. Augustine’s-in-the-Woods Episcopal Church, 5217 Honeymoon Bay Road in Freeland. The event theme is “Women in the Civil Rights Movement.”

The event will use interactive readings and TV visuals to highlight the contributions of women. Among the women honored will be Ida B. Wells, Pauli Murray, Rosa Parks, Jo Ann Robinson, Diane Nash, Ella Baker, Bernice Johnson Reagon, Fannie Lou Hamer, Casey Hayden, Mary King and Mary Wright Edelman. We can both be inspired by and learn much from their courage.

The event is sponsored by the St. Augustine’s Episcopal Peace Fellowship.
