Martin Luther King, Jr. “Blessed Are the Peacemakers” Community Event

January 19, 1:00 pm

The 20th annual Martin Luther King, “Blessed Are the Peacemakers” community event will be held at 1:00 on January 19 at St. Augustine’s-in-the-Woods Episcopal Church in Freeland. The event theme is “Nonviolent Resistance: From Martin Luther King to ‘No Kings’ and Beyond.” Cookies and beverages will be available at 12:30 preceding the event and again following the presentation.

The Martin Luther King Whidbey community gatherings have sought to connect 1960s Civil Rights Movement with current racial justice issues. This year’s event will connect the nonviolent resistance of the 1960s with the 2025 Whidbey Island nonviolent pro-democracy street rallies.

Featured speaker will be the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia’s Canon for Multicultural Ministry and Community Transformation, The Rev. Carla Robinson.
