Office Hours and Sunday mornings through June 8th, 2025
Nine stunning photographs by The Rev. Jim Friedrich of religious art and architecture are now on display in the St. Barnabas parlor. Most of them were taken in Paris and the south of France in October 2024, covering a wide range of Christian art: sculptures from Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages, the sublime stained glass of Saint-Chapelle, the colorful Matisse chapel in Vence, Chagall’s angel of the Expulsion from Paradise, and a striking detail from Hans Memling’s Resurrection painting in the Louvre. Two additional images from wider Europe show the elaborate “carpet pages” from Britain’s Lindisfarne Gospels and a charming Nativity scene from medieval Italy.
Each photograph is accompanied by a detailed text about the image. The parlor is open during office hours throughout the week, as well as Sunday mornings. The exhibition will continue until Pentecost. All are welcome to stop by and contemplate the beauty of our faith’s visual tradition.
