Word Made Art: Advent Workshop Series

November 30, December 7, 14, 21, – 11:45 am

Are you yearning for a new and creative way to encounter the scriptures this Advent? St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Seattle is offering a Sunday series of hands-on workshops to turn God’s Word into art!
Using the lectionary, we will engage in the contemplative practice of Lectio Divina. Then in response we will color, scribble, and cut our way through the season as we explore the process of Biblical Art Journaling. Bring an old Bible you are ready to recreate (or the church has a few Bibles for use). If marking up a Bible makes you uncomfortable, you will have the option of plain paper. This is about the process, prayer and creative expression, no artistic skill required.

The 90-minute sessions occur at St. Andrew’s, 111 NE 80th in Seattle, on November 30, December 7, 14, and 21 from 11:45am on. The series is facilitated by is St. Andrew’s intern, Jessica Thompson. Jessica, a student at Iona Olympia School for Ministry, finds creative expression to be a valuable tool for spiritual development. RSVP if you plan to attend so we have enough supplies! Hopesclan@gmail.com or (206) 602-5118.
