Please join St. Luke’s, Renton, in November for a Hebrew Scripture Bible Study reading the Book of Ruth. This book in the Hebrew canon of ‘Writings’ tells the story of Ruth, whose mother-in-law, Naomi, loses her husband and both of her sons. While urging her daughters-in-law to return to their families, Ruth decides, instead, to follow Naomi to her country.
Learn about the style of writing, its placement in the Canon of both Christians and Jews, levirate marriage, why there are no bad people in this book, and why ‘people’ is singular (in Hebrew). You will also learn a bit of Hebrew, all while reading one of the most beloved stories in the Hebrew Scriptures.
The class will meet on four consecutive Tuesday nights from November 7 through 28, from 6:30 – 7:30 pm, on one of St. Luke’s Zoom links (to be provided later).
Participation is open to all.
