From the Rev. Josh Hosler:

Dear friends from all around the Diocese of Olympia:

As we prepare for Diocesan Convention 2022, it is time once again to gather the names of those in our congregations who have been baptized – and those who have died – since October 1, 2021.

Here are the things you need to know as you report:

  • Please separate out Baptisms and Necrology. If you have none of either, please specify that so I don’t need to follow up.
  • Please send only first and last names – no middle names or dates.
  • It’s OK to include the names of those who have died but for whom you were not able to mark the occasion liturgically.

In addition to a written list, which will become part of our permanent diocesan archives, we’d like to ask you to submit an audio file of somebody reading each set of names slowly and prayerfully. This can be done quite simply with a cell phone. If you don’t submit an audio file, someone else will read the names, but we do want to give you this opportunity to personalize your lists.

I will work with the Commission on Liturgy & the Arts to include the printed names in our Convention materials and the recorded names during one of our Convention liturgies.

Please send me these names by September 26. Many thanks for your attention to this detail!
